A CNC machine that has stopped earning is usually not worn out — its controller is obsolete, its drives are unsupported, and no one will service the electronics. The castings, the ways and the spindle often have years left. We rebuild the mechanics and fit a new controller, drives and control panel, in Faridabad, for a fraction of what a replacement costs.

The short version

Why old CNC machines stop earning

Walk through most established workshops in Faridabad and you will find at least one CNC machine standing idle. Ask why, and the answer is rarely that it wore out. It is that the controller failed and the manufacturer no longer supports it, or the drives are unavailable, or the only person who understood the machine retired.

Meanwhile the parts that actually cost money to make — the bed casting, the ways and slides, the ballscrews, the spindle, the turret or the toolchanger — are frequently in usable condition. CNC retrofitting is the business of separating those two facts: rebuild the mechanics where they need it, and replace the entire control system with current, supported, serviceable equipment.

The economics are usually not close. A retrofit typically costs a fraction of a comparable new machine, delivers in weeks rather than months, keeps a machine your operators already know, and needs no new foundation or floor space.

A retrofit that only swaps the controller onto worn mechanics produces a machine with a nice new screen and the same old accuracy problem. We assess and rebuild both sides.

Which machines are worth retrofitting

The honest test is the condition of the castings and the ways, because those are the things a retrofit cannot economically replace. If the bed is sound and the ways are within reclaimable wear, retrofitting almost always beats replacement. If the machine has been crashed hard, run without lubrication for years, or has a cracked casting, we will say so — a bad retrofit candidate is a bad retrofit candidate whatever it does for our order book.

We survey the machine first and give you an honest verdict, including when the answer is that you should buy a new one.

Why the survey comes first

Retrofit quotations given over the phone are guesses, and guesses on this work are always low. A machine that looks tired may only need drives and a controller. One that looks presentable may have ways worn past reclaim behind the covers.

So we come and measure: geometry, alignment, backlash on each axis, spindle runout, way condition under the wipers. You get a written report with a verdict, and if the verdict is that the machine is not worth retrofitting, you get that in writing too.

What you get back

A machine with current controls that somebody can service, drawings that match what is actually inside the panel, a parameter backup so a failure is a restore rather than a rebuild, and operators who have been trained on it. Which is more than most machines of that age ever had, even when they were new.

How do we know if our machine is worth retrofitting?

The castings and the ways decide it. If the bed is sound and way wear is within reclaimable limits, retrofitting almost always beats buying new. If the machine has been badly crashed, run dry for years, or has a cracked casting, it is not a candidate — and we will tell you that rather than take the order.

What does a retrofit cost compared to a new machine?

It varies with the scope, but it is typically a fraction of a comparable new machine, and it delivers in weeks rather than months. The survey turns that into an itemised number for your specific machine instead of a percentage from a brochure.

Which controller do you fit?

A current controller with parts and service support available in India, chosen for your machine type and what your team already knows. We are not tied to one brand, and we will explain the trade-offs before you commit.

Do you rewire the whole machine or reuse what is there?

Complete rewire. Reusing decades-old cable is how a retrofit turns into an intermittent fault that nobody can find, and it is not worth the small saving.

Will the machine hold the accuracy it had when new?

That depends on what the survey finds. Where ways and ballscrews are reclaimed or replaced, original accuracy is usually achievable. Where wear is beyond reclaim we tell you what is realistic before you spend anything.

How long does the machine have to be out of production?

It depends on the scope and whether the work is done at your plant or ours. We commit to a duration in the quotation once the survey is done, rather than an optimistic number beforehand.

Do you also retrofit conventional machines to CNC?

Yes — conversion of conventional lathes and mills to CNC control is the same discipline, and we assess those the same way.

Do you work outside Faridabad?

Yes — Delhi NCR, Gurugram, Manesar, Bhiwadi, Ghaziabad, Noida and across India, with our own engineers doing the survey and the commissioning.
